QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Aliyani has said that the social and economic aftereffects of Corona virus will have to be endured for next five to six year. However, through better economic policies, partnership with development sector and donor agencies the economic and social challenges can well be addressed.
Chairing a resource committee here to improve government links with donor agencies and non-governmental organization, he made these remarks. CM was also presented progress and the forum was informed that the donor agencies have showed willingness to assist in the areas of capacity building in agriculture, live-stock, fisheries. CM was also informed that the World Food Programme had agreed to provide ration to the affected people in the province.
It was also told that as many as 25 members organizations of Balochistan Development Network were engaged in aid activities in collaboration with the international donor agencies. The forum was also told that as many as 1420 NGOs were working under Charity Act in Balochistan who are also registered with the Social Welfare Department. However, number of these NGOs were found inactive. However, many of them who were working actively had been granted No Objection Certificates to work on aide activities.
Towards the end, it was decided that a video link conference of Chief Minister would be organised with national, international and EU donor agencies to deal with post Covid-19 scenario.
