Overflow of sewers due to dumping garbage: Administrator

QUETTA: Administrator Tariq Javed Mengal on Friday accompanied by Chief Sanitation Officer Anwar Lehri visited various areas where he was briefed by the C&W department about the dilapidated condition of the road and others. Administrator Quetta on the occasion during his visit to Mission Road, Double Road, Spini Road also met the traders there where they informed him about their problems. He said that the construction and repair work of Zarghoon Road opposite of Akram Hospital along with other roads would also be started soon with a view to facilitate public. He said that Zarghoon Road and Double Road play the role of main junction in terms of sewerage on which daily and rain water pressure is quite high. However, in order to improve the flow of water, work is underway to divert the flow and clean the floor, after which the problem of overflow will be solved to a large extent. “Until we end the practice of dumping garbage, dairy farms and butchery meat in sewers, we will not be able to cope with this problem,” he said. He also inspected the ongoing development project in Liaquat Park and issued necessary instructions. He said that he was aware of the problems of the people and all the staff of the Metropolitan were working day and night to solve the problems. Public support is needed in this regard. He said that the protective spray of Corona virus is also being carried out in two shifts daily while the work of restoration of street lights is also underway.
