CM was also briefed by District Administration & various departments regarding development works in Turbat
TURBAT: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan has said that the Provincial Government is providing assistance to the district administrations across Balochistan to prevent the spread of corona virus in the province in order to protect people from Pandemic.
He expressed these views while inspecting the isolation ward of Teaching Hospital Turbat on the occasion of his visit to Turbat, on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said that thanks to Allah Almighty, the outbreak of corona virus in Balochistan province did not spread as fast as expected. He said that apart from the provincial capital Quetta, other cities in Balochistan province have not been infected with corona virus, adding that the main reason for the control is the strict measures taken by the provincial government and the vast area of the province.
He said that the highest number of cases of corona in Balochistan has been recorded in Quetta city which is a little over 2000 which makes up about 80% of the cases in Balochistan while some other districts including Naseerabad and Pishin city have a few cases and added that the situation in the rest of the area is under control. He said that the purpose of his visit to Turbat city was to review and monitor the measures taken by the Health Department and other agencies regarding the corona virus in Makran division so that Turbat and its adjoining areas can be completely protected from the Corona Pandemic
“Although no case of corona virus has been reported in Turbat so far, we must be fully prepared,” he said.
He said that the government intends to build a new ICU operation theater complex in Turbat city so that cases of coronavirus and other emergencies can be treated properly here and added that a policy has been formulated for the supply of medicines to different districts under which the MSD is being decentralized to enable the procurement of essential medicines for the hospitals at the district level.
He said that following outbreak of corona virus and lockdown in Balochistan, the provincial government has started the process of distribution of ration in different areas and the federal government has also provided cash to the poor and needy people in remote areas of Balochistan under the Ehsas program. He said that for the first time in the history of Balochistan, the provincial government is focusing on equal development of all areas and in this regard, huge amount of money has been allocated for all districts in the provincial PSDP.
He said that our government has not only introduced new schemes in the provincial budget and added that various schemes of the previous government were also being completed on priority basis so that funds could not be wasted due to closure of old schemes.
Meanwhile, he said that Ketch district is a very important town of Turbat Balochistan For the development of city various projects are being launched under the second phase of the city development program which includes various highway dams and other projects. He said that after the completion of these projects a new identity of Turbat city will come to fore.
He further said that the provincial government has launched a program for the people of Balochistan under the Akhuwaat program under which a loan of Rs 20,000 loan would be provided to 25,000 people without any interest to alleviate the sufferings of the people. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister Balochistan also assured to start the date processing plant under construction in Turbat soon to export the surplus production of dates.
Earlier, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan also attended a meeting in the office of Commissioner Makran in which he was briefed by Commissioner Makran Tariq Qamar Baloch about the projects under Turbat City Development Program and Buleda Town Program. He directed the Commissioner Makran and other concerned agencies to complete the projects in time on priority basis. He said that these projects should be completed in time and no compromise should be made on the quality of work in this regard.
Meanwhile, DHO Kech Dr Rahim Buledi also briefed Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan about the steps taken by the Health Department to eradicate the corona virus in Turbat city. Meanwhile, the Balochistan Chief Minister assured him that the provincial government was ready to extend all possible assistance to him in this regard and was taking immediate steps to provide him the necessary medicines.
Officials of the Irrigation Department and PHE Department also briefed Chief Minister about the performance of their respective departments. The Chief Minister of Balochistan discussed with the officials of PHE Department about the transfer of tube wells to solar technology in Balochistan.
