QUETTA: The dead body Asad Khan Achakzai, a former Spokesperson for Awami National Party (ANP), who was kidnapped some five months ago, was recovered on Saturday by Police on a clue provided by one of the kidnappers.
The dead body was recovered from Nau-Esaar, a suburb of the provincial capital, where the kidnappers had killed and thrown the body into a well. The media reports say that a Levies Personnel and two others have been arrested by the police in connection with the abduction and investigations are underway. According to police, the arrests were made with the help of modern technology and the kidnappers had already confessed of committing the heinous crime.
During a press conference on Saturday night Deputy Inspector General Police Quetta Muhammad Azhar Akram at his office along with SSP investigation Asad Khan Nasar, SP Saddr Shoukat Ali Mehmand and SP Investigation Saddar Ali Nawaz said that a few days ago a robbery incident had taken place at a petrol pump in which unknown men had looted one hundred thousand and a mobile phone, adding that following a tip-off police raided in Kanak area of Mastung and arrested an accused identified as Asrar Ahmed and recovered a vehicle and a pistol from his custody and upon further investigation, it was revealed this vehicle belonged to Asad Achakzai who was abducted from Airport area five months ago. He said that upon further investigation, the accused confessed that this vehicle belonged to Asad Achakzai who was killed and thrown into a well in Nau-Esaar area of Aghbarg. The dead body was later recovered by the Police. As soon as the news of recovery of dead of the slain leader was confirmed by the Police and the central leadership of the party, the infuriated party workers took to the streets in protest and expressed their anger.
