QUETTA: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) took in custody two former employees of Red Crescent after their bail-before-arrest was regretted by the Balochistan High Court here on Wednesday.
Former Chairmen Shabir Red Crescent and former Secretary Jahazaib Raisani are accused of embezzlement of millions in Red Crescent Balochistan.
According to the details, Director General NAB Balochistan had approval of their arrest from Chairman NAB Justice (r) Javed Iqbal and had issued arrest warrants for both the accused following concrete evidences at hand.
Soon after the issuance of arrest warrants, the accused had approached the court for bail before arrest which was regretted after Justice Kamran Mulakhel and Rozi Khan Kakar of Balochistan High Court had listened to the arguments of Prosecutor NAB and Investigation Officer NAB.
Sources say that embezzlements had been made in the funds allocated for the natural disasters and welfare of the people. They are also accused of financial transgression in use of their powers.
Moreover, various cheques were allegedly withdrawn in the name of decoration of office, petrol and rent a car service registered in the name of one their sub-ordinates, said the sources.
Both the accused have failed to satisfy NAB regarding withdrawal of cheques to the tune of Rs. 100 million, say sources.
Both the accused are shifted to the NAB Office whose physical remand would be acquired by NAB later to proceed in the investigation.
