Shahwani Expresses Party Desire for Chairman and Deputy Chairman Slot

QUETTA: The Spokesman, Government of Balochistan, Liaquat Shahwani has said that the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of Senate should be elected from the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) and its allied parties.

He said that BAP leadership desires that the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Senate may be from the BAP and coalition partners, adding that it is the right of people of Balochistan that they are given the slot of senate Chairmanship.

Speaking to a news conference at Quetta Press Club here on Thursday, Mr. Shahwani said that the Senate elections were conducted in good manner other day. He said that BAP got its mandate in the Senate elections from Balochistan securing six seats.

He also said that the ruling BAP and its ally parties were successful in the elections the other day.

Referring the demand of resignation by the Opposition from Prime Minister Imran Khan, the spokesman of provincial government said that it is an undemocratic demand to seek resignation from the Premier after winning the seat of Senate from Islamabad by the Opposition.

However, he hailed the decision of Prime Minister regarding seeking the vote of confidence from the Parliament.

Mr. Shahwani said that the Prime Minister made a good decision himself that he would be seeking vote of confidence from the National Assembly.

He also went on to say that the Prime Minister has trapped the Opposition by making a decision to seek the vote of confidence.

He also said that the apprehensions regarding sale and purchase of the votes in the Senate elections were proved wrong.

Referring the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), the spokesman of GoB said that the opposition alliance has been failed at all fronts and it’s long march of 26th March would also be failed.
